InsectoSec tape treatment against bed bugs

Bedbugs (or bed bugs, Cimex sp.) are an increasing problem in UK homes and hotels. Changes in human behaviour with increased movement are helping to spread the pest insect as we transport it along with our belongings. This coupled with increasing human population density providing them with more food and their development of resistance to chemical insecticide treatments means it is becoming harder to kill them.

What can be done to treat bedbugs?

There are a number of different options for treating bedbugs. Various heat treatments, chemical insecticides or natural insecticides are available either for consumers to use themselves or for a professional pest control company to use.

The battle against bedbugs is a constant one, with re-infestation a continuous threat. Bedbugs live in both clean and dirty houses, and so however clean your sleeping area is it is no protection against bedbug infestation. Discover more about combatting bedbugs here.

InsectoSec Tape has been designed around and understanding of bedbug behaviour:

  • Located on the bed, near to their feeding site, it is ideally positioned without impacting you
  • Its winged fold design creates tight gaps which the bedbug prefer to rest in for protection
  • Presence of the InsectoSec within the tape means bedbugs are not aware its presence
  • A difficult pest to target with insecticide applications because of its hiding places or ability to have long periods between blood feeds, InsectoSec Tape brings the pest to it and has a persistent effect which lasts 24 months

What is InsectoSec Tape?

InsectoSec Tape is a natural insecticide packaged on an easy to use self-adhesive tape. The tape is positioned under bed frames and around other furniture to attract and kill bedbugs. InsectoSec Tape is able to kill all life stages of the bedbugs which die from desiccation after coming into contact with the powder in the tape. The powder in the tape absorbs the bed bug’s protective wax layer, which results in the pest drying out and dying.

Developed by research scientists and bedbug experts at Nattaro Labs in Sweden, InsectoSec Tape is patented and a world first in bedbug treatment technology.

How to use InsectoSec Tape?

The self-adhesive bedbug tape is attached to the underside of bedframes and around the headboard. Hidden from view, it has no impact on how the room or bedding is used.

The InsectoSec Tape comes in rolls, and the paper material of the bedbug tape can be easily cut with scissors to fit any size or shape of bed. The bedbug tape is positioned around the outer edge of the bed frame to form a barrier which the bedbug must cross to move between its hiding place and food source. The InsectoSec Tape creates an attractive hiding place for the bedbugs, which as they are resting, get exposed to the InsectoSec powder and die.

The InsectoSec Tape can remain in place for up to two years. If the powder within the tape is used up or dislodged during this time, sections of the tape can simply be cut out and replaced with new tape.
