Formic pro™ comes to the UK!
Here at Andermatt we are always looking for new ways to help you bee keepers control the varroa mites that plague your hives.
Are your bees struggling to yield a decent crop for you?
Can you see any examples of disease in your hive?
Are you concerned that your bees look deformed or distorted?
Are there scattered patches of brood in the hive?
Does your colony seem weaker than it was?
Then look no further because we have the solution for you.
Formic pro™ is the newest formic acid treatment available to bee keepers of the UK. Developed by our friends and partners in Canada, NOD Global have produced another world-beating varroa treatment.
Standing on the shoulders of the ever-popular MAQS, Formic pro is the evolution of Formic acid treatment. Formicpro has the same amount of formic acid as MAQS but the new and improved formula means that the vapours are released at a slower rate, reducing the initial impact of the first few days of treatment and minimising stress on the colony.
The new formula also means that the shelf life of Formic pro has double that of MAQS at 24 months from date of production which is another bonus for the bee keeper who does not use all their strips and can save them for next season.
The efficacy of Formic pro is high, it can kill up to 80% of immature mites that live under the brood cap. Unlike any other varroa treatment (apart from MAQS of course) Formic pro penetrates through the brood cap and kills the immature mites that are not on the bees. The mites are at their deadliest under the brood cap, feasting on the young bee larvae and reproducing within the warm environment of the brood cell.
To boost your colony size going into the spring/summer honey flow, use Formic pro™ when the colony begins to expand in size in spring. To protect your colony going into the winter and strengthen the bees that will make up the winter cluster, use Formic pro™ varroa mite treatment as the colony begins to reduce in number in late summer/autumn.
Formic pro™ can be used throughout the active season but is best applied to the hive when the outdoor temperature range is between 10-29.5°C. Formicpro™ will have the most impact on the varroa in your hive when the outdoor temperature range is between 15-25°C.
Formic pro™ kills both male and female varroa mites under the brood cap where they reproduce and any mites existing on the bees. Formic pro™ 2 dose strips can be used throughout the active season with zero withdrawal period. Honey supers for consumption must be removed for the duration of the treatment.
