Combining his role as Minister for Science, Research and Innovation and MP for Arundel and South Downs, Andrew Griffith MP visited Andermatt's UK office today to discover more about innovation within the world of biologicals. A rapidly growing sector of agriculture, biologicals offer tools to growers to support integrated cropping systems and help drive sustainability.

 

 

Nestled at the foot of the South Downs, Andermatt sits within Andrew Griffiths constituency of Arundel and South Downs. Based on the outskirts of the village of Small Dole, the Andermatt site supports the business across the whole of the UK and Republic of Ireland.

During his visit, Andrew Griffith MP was shown some of the cutting-edge innovation being developed and manufactured by companies such as Andermatt. Biological control products as diverse as the natural insecticides Delfin® and Madex® Top, plastic-free insect netting or frost fleece and Vertiliser® NPK fertilisers manufactured as part of a circular system. Technologies being developed by companies such as Andermatt and other IBMA (International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association) members are creating sustainable solutions to support British farmers grow our food locally and more sustainably. Whilst the topics discussed within farming constantly evolve and currently focus on food security and sustainability of production, the need to support innovation has forever been present.

Andermatt are one of the many SMEs who drive innovation development. During Mr Griffiths visit the challenges faced by smaller companies was discussed. Topics as varied as the future of sustainable agriculture, regulation of biological plant protection products, Welsh wool, plastic tax and Net Zero targets.
