Andermatt has launched Varroxal®, a new, VMD-approved, oxalic acid-based treatment to support beekeepers in the fight against varroa mite.
Approved for use in GB, Varroxal is a pure oxalic acid dihydrate powder and gives beekeepers the flexibility of being used in three different ways, all from the same bottle.

With the product approval having been granted just in time for winter evaporation hive treatments, its pure, sugar-free formulation, means no burnt residue is left on beekeeper’s vapourisers.
Varroxal is a versatile powder that can be applied in 3 ways:
· Sublimation: Varroxal can be applied directly as a pure powder using a vapouriser. Its pure formula prevents deposit formation on equipment — a clear advantage over formulations containing added sugars.
· Spraying: When dissolved in water, Varroxal offers a straightforward application option.
· Trickling: When mixed with sugar syrup, Varroxal provides a traditional application route but with the advantage of a long shelf life and the flexibility to use just one spoonful at a time.
Varroxal is available in a 75 or 200 g resealable container and includes a measuring spoon.
Varroxal offers British beekeepers a versatile and legally-approved solution for oxalic acid treatment, combining efficacy with formulation purity and ease of use.
“Varroxal represents another step forward in Andermatt’s commitment to bee health,” said Dr. Andrew Brown, Managing Director of Andermatt UK. “It not only gives beekeepers a flexible, high-quality treatment option but also reinforces Andermatt’s reputation for supporting sustainable and responsible beekeeping.”
The product expands Andermatt’s range of bee health solutions, which already includes the VMD-approved Thymovar (thymol containing strips) and the original Varrox vapouriser and its litium ion powered portable Varrox Eddy.
